Data-Driven Identification and Video-Based Education of Black and Hispanic Patients At-Risk for Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease
Metabolic dysfunction associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is rising in prevalence, particularly in Hispanic and Black populations, likely due to concurrent rises in its co-morbid cardiometabolic conditions such as diabetes, obesity, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and chronic kidney disease. MASLD can be asymptomatic, so patients go undiagnosed. Utilizing the Emergency Department as a critical component of the US healthcare safety net and point of care for diverse populations, we will explore AI-based methods to identify patients at risk for MASLD. Additionally, we will develop and assess video-based patient education about AI-based tools for MASLD with Black and Hispanic patients.
